Colorado Water Trust, a 17-year old conservation nonprofit based in Denver, with a mission to help Colorado rivers in need by using market mechanisms to ensure adequate in-stream flow, is searching for a Board Treasurer. The position will help guide the organization financially and separately function as a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee. As Treasurer, successful applicants will work closely with the Director of Finance to: ensure the organization’s books meet with standard industry practice; oversee the management and reporting of its finances and present its financial position to the Board for review; be familiar with and conversant on its current financial position; chair its standing Finance Committee; as well as other finance-related tasks. As a member of the Board of Directors, the Treasurer will approve organizational budgets, oversee the Executive Director, and contribute to the organization’s activities and fundraising. The position is expected to require roughly 2-3 hours per week, on average. Board meetings are quarterly, with Finance Committee and Executive Committee meetings monthly. Meetings do not all need to be attended in person. The position is not compensated.

Qualifications sought: Finance background required, with accounting and nonprofit experience preferred. Some experience in the complexities of Colorado water field desirable but not required. Interest in Colorado Water Trust’s mission and Western river conservation, in general, is important. Colorado residents only (need not be in Denver).
