GOCO’s New Requirements for Water Due Diligence Memos

These resources complemented a presentation made by Amanda Hill, GOCO, and Edalin Koziol, CWT Staff, on March 17, 2014 at CCLT's Conservation Excellence 2014.

Presentation Description: GOCO’s Open Space Program funds land protection activities through grants to land trusts and local governments. In the past, GOCO has required grantees to complete a water rights due diligence memo for each project. GOCO has now released requirements describing what grantees will be expected to include in the memo in the future. At this session, GOCO and Colorado Water Trust staff will walk participants through the new water due diligence memo requirements, explaining what each question asks and why the information grantees provide in their answer is important for both participants and GOCO, as well as where participants can find the information requested.

The presenters also provided Sample Responses to illustrate what GOCO will be looking for in the Great Outdoors Colorado Water Rights Due Diligence Memo Guidance, and presenters referred to this Colorado Water Information Resources handout.
